There was a medical mishap when a 57-year-old woman brought a concealed handgun into an MRI machine and was shot in the buttock, according to an FDA report.

The report states the patient was brought into the room and entered the MRI machine. During the scan, the handgun was attracted to the magnet and fired a single round.

“The patient received a gunshot wound to the right buttock area and was examined by a physician at the site,” according to the report.

A doctor described the wound as “very small and superficial, only penetrating subcutaneous tissue” before she was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The patient later told doctors she was OK and healing well.

According to the report, the patient was asked before the exam if she had any forbidden items, including firearms, but she answered “no.”

The manufacturer of the MRI machine, GE Healthcare, is still investigating.
