WASHINGTON (TNND) — After a shocking video of alleged Tren de Aragua gang members in Aurora, Colorado went viral over the summer, some city officials later called it “an isolated incident.”
The same apartment complex though, is where where 16 suspected TDA members were arrested on Tuesday.
In a news conference Wednesday, Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said, “The victims were held against their will. They were actually bound. They were pistol-whipped. They were beat. They were victimized. They were terrorized.”
The incoming Trump administration blamed migrant crime on changes in immigration policy under President Biden – citing it as a key reason for Trump’s mass deportation program.
In an interview with CNN, Tom Homan, Trump’s pick for “border czar” said, “Day one, day one will be, uh, ICE officers across the country will be out on the streets.”
He said he is asking for help from the Department of Defense and Congress.
The minimum we need, 100,000 beds because we got a big population to look for,” he said.

26 Republican governors voiced their support in a statement released through the Republican Governors Association, stating “We stand ready to utilize every tool at our disposal—whether through state law enforcement or the National Guard—to support President Trump in this vital mission.”\
The ACLU warned that support could mean giving local law enforcement the green light to profile people of color or those who don’t speak English, as some Democratic governors vow to fight back.
In a Dec. 12 news conference, Governor JB Pritzker, D-Ill, said, “We have laws on the books in the state of Illinois I’m proud of those laws that protect people who are undocumented here that, that by the way protect those who are migrants and those who are documented immigrants too but we have laws that protect undocumented immigrants and I’m going to make sure to follow the law. I’m concerned that the Trump Administration and you know his lackies aren’t going to follow the law.”
Other Democrats say they plan to work with Homan, at least when it comes to deporting criminals.
In an interview with Fox News this week, Mayor Eric Adams, D-New York City, said, “We both agree on violent individuals should not remain in our country. We have laws here in the city on how that can be handled. My legal team is going to sit down with his legal team to make the determination with an executive order to change that.”
