Meth mom charged with neglect

STERLING, Okla. (AP) – An Oklahoma mother has been charged with felony child neglect after her newborn daughter tested positive for methamphetamine.

KSWO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/13QMIfm ) 31-year-old Amanda Page of Sterling was charged on Thursday. Hospital officials contacted Sterling police on Oct. 14 after Page gave birth prematurely on Oct. 10. Doctors say the baby weighed 3 pounds and 3 ounces.

Police say Page was 30 weeks pregnant when she used meth. They say the drugs caused her to go into labor more than a month ahead of her due date.

The condition of the child is unclear.

Online jail records didn’t indicate an attorney for Page.
