Medical Center Creates Senior Friendly ER

Ponca City Now - October 14, 2013 8:54 am

Emergency rooms are full of hustle and bustle, but for many that is too much.

Ponca City Medical Center decided to adapt to the needs of senior citizens and create an area specifically for them.

Eric Lybarger, Ponca City Medical Center marketing director said they want to create a more calm and comfortable environment.

“Making sure the walkways are clear, and that there are walkers and wheel chairs at the entrance, Lybarger said. "That they can reach the call bell easily. These rooms are located right in eye sight of the nursing station, so that creates some comfort for the patient as well.”

They also included little things like calendars for a sense of time, mild pattern furniture and extra seating for family.

You use the same entrance to access the senior friendly ER.

There are four designated beds on the north end.
