The Marland Grand Home has kept its historical value for nearly 100 years.

Barbara Vail, operations assistant said the home will be closed for three weeks shortly after Christmas.

The floorboards are getting a facelift.

“They are going to strip the floors, sand them, restain them and then reseal them,” Vail said.

They are refinishing the whole main floor.

The Marland Grand Home will be closed Dec. 29 through Jan. 21.

Vail said the refinishing project only takes a week, but there is preparation involved.

“We have a week of work to clear out all the furniture, and we are taking that time to clean chandeliers and drapes," Vail said. "So, one week to clear, one week to do it, one week to clean up and put it back together.”

The floors are the original floors when E.W. Marland lived in the home.

Marland moved into the Grand Home in 1916.

The house also had some fancy appliances for the time, a central vacuum cleaner, an attached three car garage and the first indoor pool in Oklahoma.
