Marie Trenary surprised with special Chamber of Commerce award

Ponca City Now - September 11, 2018 3:35 pm

Marie Trenary, Programming Specialist for the Senior Center, was surprised Monday night during the Ponca City Board of Commissioners meeting.

Trenary had been preparing diligently to present a report to the Commissioners on how the Senior Center was meeting expectations this year. She was clearly thrown off guard when Mandy Morris, chair of the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce,  called Trenary to the podium to give her report, but then continued to read the report herself.

As Morris wrapped up Trenary’s accomplishments at the Senior Center, she continued with the bigger surprise. Trenary was named the 2018 winner of the Gary Martin Award, which honors the outstanding city employee of the year.

Trenary confessed she was so nervous when she realized she wasn’t giving her presentation that it took her a moment to realize members of her family were seated behind her in the audience.

Congratulations, Marie!

Mayor Homer Nicholson, City Manager Craig Stephenson, Chamber Chair Mandy Morris, Marie Trenary, Recreation Superintendent Teri Sherbon, and Park and Recreation Department Director Eric Newell congratulate Trenary on her award.
