TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Police in Tulsa say a man who shot and wounded a police officer later shot and killed himself.

Police told reporters that 26-year-old Jeremie Shawn Kelly shot himself in the head shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday inside the home of a relative a few blocks from where he had shot and wounded Cpl. Gene Watkins more than three hours earlier. Police say Watkins is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries while Kelly later died at a Tulsa hospital.

Police say the incident began when officers stopped Kelly to serve a warrant in a domestic violence case. Police say Kelly drove away and led officers on a short chase before finally stopping and trying to run away and shooting Watkins in the right leg.
