Lucas: Democrats driving partisan impeachment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement following Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s press conference charging the House Committee on the Judiciary to draft articles of impeachment:

“Today’s announcement by Speaker Pelosi makes one thing clear: She and House Democrats are driving an impeachment inquiry motivated solely by partisan animosity.

“The strength of our representative democracy comes from our ability to legislate on behalf of the American people. When we neglect those duties, our purpose becomes belittled.

“While some of my colleagues will reserve judgement relating to information pertaining to the impeachment inquiry, today’s announcement proves the process created by Speaker Pelosi was to ensure a partisan, pre-determined result undermining the result of the last election. Based off what I have seen and read so far, it would be a complete disservice to the American people to move forward on such a serious matter impeaching the President.”
