The Kay County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday night, the Newkirk Police Department made a traffic stop which led to discovery of information regarding criminal activity in town. This activity included drugs and at least one handgun. That stop led to another stop where officers detected an odor of marijuana. A probable cause search of the vehicle was done. During that search, a handgun magazine was found in the driver’s door, along with a disassembled semiautomatic handgun under the driver’s seat. Officers also found marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and 204 fentanyl pills.
24 year old Ryon Filtingberger of Ark City, and 34 year old Samantha Bailey of Wellington Kansas were arrested and are now being held in the Kay County Detention Center.
