The following is regarding Tonkawa residents upcoming utility bills.
The City of Tonkawa just received the June electric bill from OMPA. Comparing June of 2021 to June of 2022, there was more than a 30% increase. This was mainly due to the number of kilowatts purchased, however, there was also a substantial increase in fuel charges.
Your August utility bill will reflect this increase. The extreme heat experienced in June is directly related to the increase in kilowatts purchased. The weather forecast shows that the triple digit heat will continue throughout the month of July.
Please be aware that utility bills in August and September will be significantly higher than normal, and unfortunately this will continue until this heat wave breaks.
