The Powerball jackpot has been raised to an estimated $1.6 billion for Saturday night’s drawing. This is officially a new record-breaking jackpot for Powerball, making it the largest prize ever in US Lottery history. Saturday will mark 40 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, the second longest streak in the game’s history. If the jackpot isn’t hit on Saturday, it will tie the previous record of 41 consecutive draws without a winner set in 2021.
An Oklahoma City man claimed a $2 million winning Powerball ticket on Tuesday, according to the Oklahoma Lottery. Ronald bought the winning ticket at a Homeland store on Northwest 122nd Street. Authorities said he claimed his ticket Tuesday morning at the Oklahoma Lottery Winner Center.
If there’s only a single winner of this Saturday’s drawing and that person claims the lump-sum prize (as opposed to payments spread over multiple years), they’ll take home $782.4 million.
Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Lottery reported that an Oklahoma City man claimed a $2 million winning Powerball ticket on Tuesday. That winner, identified only as Ronald, bought the winning ticket at a Homeland store on Northwest 122nd Street. Lottery officials say he claimed his ticket Tuesday morning.
The last record was set in January 2016, when winners in California, Florida and Tennessee split the jackpot of $1.58 billion. The most recent Powerball winner purchased their ticket in August, winning $202 million in the state of Pennsylvania.
