A Winter Storm Watch is in effect tonight through Thursday Morning.

Forecasts are calling for up to 6 inches of snow and blowing snow and possibly some ice/sleet in the mix.  Subject is likely to change over the next 12-24 hours regarding snow totals.

Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

The National Weather Service in Norman is forecasting 3-4 inches of snow for Kay County along with a trace to 0.10″ of ice. The heaviest ice will likely be in southeast Oklahoma where areas around Durant could see 0.25″ of ice.

If you have any closings or cancellations you’d like to submit for businesses and schools in and around Kay County, email [email protected].
