Wind Advisory in effect for Thursday

The National Weather Service in Norman has placed Kay County along with all of northern, central and western Oklahoma under a Wind Advisory going until 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon. National Weather Service in Tulsa has Osage County and much of northeast Oklahoma under a Wind Advisory as well that goes until 3 p.m.

All Oklahoma counties under the Wind Advisory in the NWS Norman office area are Harper, Woods, Alfalfa, Grant, Kay, Ellis, Woodward, Major, Garfield, Noble, Roger Mills, Dewey, Custer, Blaine, Kingfisher, Logan, Payne, Beckham, Washita, Caddo, Canadian, Oklahoma, Lincoln, Grady, McClain, Cleveland, Pottawatomie, Seminole, Harmon, Greer, Kiowa, Jackson, Tillman, Comanche, Stephens, Garvin, Murray, Cotton, Jefferson and Carter. Counties included for the NWS Tulsa office area are Osage, Washington, Nowata, Craig, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee and Wagoner.

Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
