A personal injury collision occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on State Highway 51, a quarter of a mile east of Fairgrounds Road, one-and-a-half miles east of Stillwater in Payne County.
One vehicle involved was a 2016 Toyota Corolla driven by Erica Waffle, 29, of Yale, OK. The other vehicle involved was a 2012 Peterbuilt that was not occupied. The report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says that it’s unknown at this time as to exactly what happened to cause the accident.
Waffle was transported by Life Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Admitted in good condition with trunk internal and arm injuries.. A 3-year-old male that was with Waffle was transported by Life Net EMS to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Admitted in good condition with head and trunk internal injuries.
Seat belts were in use in Waffle’s vehicle and airbags did deploy.
The accident was investigated by Lieutenant Ricky Gunkel #63 of the Troop K detachment. Assisted by Trooper Zachary Hargus #331 of Troop A, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Stillwater Fire Department, LifeNet EMS, and Life Flight.
