The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 377 new positive COVID-19 cases for Oklahoma on Monday, Aug. 3. The state has seen a total of 38,602 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started earlier this year, and 7,437 cases are active.
Kay County saw three new COVID-19 cases reported Monday as the county has now seen 217 cases, 10 deaths and 171 recoveries. Out of the cases that are active in Kay County, 33 are in Ponca City, Blackwell and Newkirk both have two and Tonkawa has one.
As for new cases in local counties, Payne County has nine, Garfield County with seven, Logan and Washington counties both have four, Pawnee County with two and Grant and Osage counties both with one.
One additional virus-related death was reported Monday. The individual was a female from Pottawatomie County in the 65 or older age group. Oklahoma’s death toll is at 551.
OSDH is also reporting 345 new recoveries, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 31,165. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Health officials report that as of Monday, there have been 599,461 negative test results overall. Officials also report that there have been 3,275 total hospitalizations, and 628 patients are currently hospitalized.
