Stillwater is officially in a State of Emergency based on medical health of the community. Earlier today, staff members from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, City of Stillwater Emergency Management SEMA, Stillwater Fire Department, Stillwater Medical Center, and Payne County Health Department OK worked together to erect the climate controlled medical shelters at Stillwater Medical Center.
SMC is having the medical shelters on site due to the possibility of the ER becoming overloaded. SMC’s hope is that hope is that no patients will need to receive care in the outdoor tents. As of Friday, September 3, all staffed beds were in use.
