On Tuesday, the Stillwater Police Department arrested an individual who attempted to scam an elderly Stillwater couple.
The male suspect was in the course of defrauding the couple of $12k. He told the couple the funds would be used for bond money to free a relative from jail in Florida.
Fortunately, this alert couple was suspicious and contacted the police. Officers arrived to find the suspect at the couple’s residence posing as a “bond courier.”
This is an ongoing investigation and evidence has led Stillwater PD to believe there are other victims in our city and/or in surrounding areas.
