The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 673 new positive COVID-19 cases for the state of Oklahoma on Wednesday, July 8. There have now been 17,893 positive cases since the start of the pandemic, and 4,355 cases are active.
While Kay County saw two new COVID-19 cases, an eight virus-related death was reported for the county on Wednesday. The individual was a male in the 50-64 age group and appeared to be from Ponca City, making it the sixth death for the community. Ponca City has seen 107 cases and 81 recoveries.
For new cases in surrounding counties, Washington County has six, Logan and Payne counties both have three, two for Garfield County, and one for Osage and Pawnee counties.
Including the new death for Kay County, OSDH is reporting three virus-related deaths on Wednesday. None of which occurred in the last 24 hours.
- An Oklahoma County female in the 65 or older age group.
- A Tulsa County male in the 65 or older age group.
Oklahoma’s death toll is at 407.
OSDH also reports 533 new recoveries, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total at 13,538. Officials report that there have been up to 376,930 negative specimens, 1,804 total hospitalizations and 458 patients currently hospitalized.
Data from OSDH also shows that 35.97% of those who tested positive are in the 18-35 age group, 22.19% in the 36-49 age group, 17,81% in the 50-64 age group, 15.35% in the 65 or older age group, 6.75% in the 5-17 age group, 1.93% in the 0-4 age group and 1.93% in the unknown age group.
