The National Weather Service offices in Norman and Tulsa have placed much of northern Oklahoma under a Red Flag Warning for today going from Noon until 6 p.m.

Counties included in the Red Flag Warning are Harper, Woods, Alfalfa, Grant, Kay, Ellis, Woodward, Major, Garfield, Noble, Roger Mills, Dewey, Custer, Blaine, Beckham, Washita, Caddo, Kiowa, Osage and Pawnee.

South winds at around 25-30 mph or higher are likely for today. Humidity will be low at 28% and the high temperatures will be in the 70s.

Fires that start could spread rapidly and will be difficult to contain.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will contribute to extreme fire behavior.
