The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 7 p.m. this evening for Garfield Grant, Kay and Noble counties, and until 6 p.m. for Osage and Pawnee counties in north central Oklahoma.
South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are possible. Humidity will be as low as 25 percent. Any fire that starts will be difficult to contain.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will contribute to extreme fire behavior.
