After being medically induced for over a month, Geoffrey Cowan, 69, of Ponca City who tested positive for COVID-19 has been released from the hospital.
According to KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City, Geoffrey was in the hospital for 28 days and started showing symptoms 41 days ago. He even was in a coma at one point in which he woke up from.
Geoffrey, who also has diabetes and a heart disease, works with his wife Steffi, 64, in the medical field. None of the two have traveled recently before becoming ill.
Steffi was also hospitalized last month due to COVID-19 before being sent home. She has since recovered and completed her 14-day at-home quarantine. While Geoffrey was greeted by his wife and daughter outside of the hospital, he will not be sent to his home just yet where he’s been taken to a long-term acute care facility in Tulsa where he’ll likely be in rehab for a month. A full recovery could take up to a year.
We wish Geoffrey the best on his road to recovery.
