A fatality collision happened at 10:34 a.m. Thursday on U.s. 81 at county road Garvin, 3 miles north of Pond Creek in Grant County.
Randy Lee Byrum, 53, of Ponca City was driving a 2013 Chevrolet pickup when he went left of the center of the road and struck the over-sized load trailer of a 2019 International semi driven by Werner Schalk Smit, 22, of Toronto, SD.
Byrum was pronounced dead at the scene from whole body injuries by Pond Creek Ambulance Personnel at 10:34 a.m. Byrum was also pinned for approximately 3 hours before being extricated by use of Hurst Tools.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
