Wayne Keith Cotton, 56, of Ponca City was arrested last week and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and a felon in possession of a firearm.
Cotton’s bond was set at $200,000. According to reports, police were sent to the 900 block of South Fifth Street in Ponca City on March 25 at 4:40 p.m. for a subject that reported Cotton shot at his vehicle on the drivers side after a dispute. Cotton claims he feared for his life so he retrieved a gun and fired shots in the air in the direction of the vehicle.
With that in mind, the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk and the Ponca City Municipal Court will remain closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 concerns.
