It’s been over a decade since the Wright Brothers make a big impact on traveling as they invented the first airplane at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Today, many people dream of taking to the sky and getting to explore the landscape the world that we live on has to offer. And the Ponca City Aviation Foundation has been helping make those dreams a reality each summer for local students and provide a lift to area youth considering a flight plan for where the rest of their lives will take them.

The organization orchestrates and hosts the Northern Oklahoma Flight Academy each year. The academy is a summer day-camp program that teaches appreciative students a wide range of subject matter concerning the facet of flight.

Registration for the 16th annual Northern Oklahoma Flight Academy is soon to begin. The academy will be June 10-14 at the Ponca City Regional Airport with class times running from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. The sign-up period runs from Feb. 15 until March 15.

Tuition ranges from $125 to $200, with four levels of classes established to cater to each student’s grade level and experience.
