A fatality collision occurred at approximately 11:29 p.m. Tuesday night on U.S. 177 just south of 32nd Avenue, approximately 1 mile south of Stillwater in Payne County.
Avery Stinnett, 24, of Jones, OK. was driving a black 2018 Dodge Journey southbound on U.S. 177 in the outside lane. A black Roadmaster bicycle, walked by a male pedestrian with their name withheld, was being pushed southbound on U.S. 177 in the outside lane. Stinnett’s vehicle struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene with head injuries by LifeNet. Stinnett did not sustain any injuries.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Ledbetter #388 of the Traffic Homicide Unit and Trooper Long #541 of the Payne County Detachment of Troop K. Assisted by Stillwater Fire Department, LifeNet, Payne County Sheriff Department, Stillwater Police Department, and Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office.
