Prior to Monday, April 19, Ponca City Public Schools has not had a COVID Contact Tracing Investigation since March 10, 2021. This contact tracing investigation affected 45 individuals. There’s been great improvements with positive cases affecting individuals at school. If your child is symptomatic, please do not send them to school until the results are returned. The district will provide Distance Learning to your child. At times, the results are negative, but if the results are positive and the student has been at school, a contact tracing investigation will be conducted. With lower risk levels, PCPS has had very few exposures at school the last month. Please remain diligent to ensure no further exposures occur at school.
The District will continue to maintain the PCPS Contact Tracing Totals spreadsheet on their home page at www.pcps.us, so patrons may remain updated on numbers and percentages of those affected by COVID-19, either through isolation and quarantine. However, the numbers have been very low the past couple of weeks. If this continues, PCPS will not report weekly totals each weekend.
In addition to fewer positive cases affecting school, the COVID ALERT SYSTEM RISK LEVEL for Kay County has been significantly lower the last few weeks, and these trends are typical for the entire state. The Kay County Risk Level for April 20, 2021 was 2.3 – YELLOW RISK LEVEL. For the state, Oklahoma was at 2.4 – YELLOW RISK LEVEL.
