Baylee Fincher, Senior at Ponca City High School was recently selected to the 2020 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA) All State team. Baylee averaged 15.7 points per game and 6.2 rebounds as a senior and scored 1334 points in her career as a Lady Cat. She was also selected to the VYPE Top 100 Team and the All VYPE 6A team. Baylee was a four-year starter and a member of two state tournament teams at Po-Hi. Upon graduating, Baylee with attend West Texas A & M University in Canyon, TX on a basketball scholarship and study Psychology.
“Baylee is the most competitive player I have ever coached,” said PCPS Basketball Coach Jody Fincher. “Whatever she is doing, she wants to win and that is her ultimate goal. Baylee has worked tirelessly in the gym and has been a great leader for our players. Baylee helped lead us to two state tournament appearances, and we will miss her next year. I am so proud of the things she has accomplished and I know she will go on to be successful in life.”
Senior Ryley Beard at Ponca City High School was recently selected to the OGBCA All Region team. Ryley averaged 10.6 points per game and 3.4 rebounds for the Lady Cats. Ryley was a three-year starter and a member of two state tournament teams. Ryley lead 6A in three point shooting percentage her sophomore year. After graduation, Ryley will attend Cowley Community College in Ark City, KS on a basketball scholarship where she plans to study dental hygiene.
“From the time she stepped foot on campus Ryley has been a force for us,” said Coach Fincher. “Ryley is a tremendously hard worker and leads on the court. She is one of the best three point shooters in the state and was a huge player on two state tournament teams. Ryley was as tough of a player as I’ve ever had, and players can take a lot from her grit. Ryley was a joy to coach and I will miss her fire.”
