The Oklahoma State Department of Health released their weekly epidemiology report on Wednesday.
Data shows that throughout the week of October 3-9, 8,643 new COVID-19 cases, 9,537 recoveries and 189 deaths were documented. Since early 2020, 35,713 individuals in the state have been hospitalized due to COVID. CDC COVID Data Tracker lists that 13,763 individuals have been tested in the last 7 days. The average age of cases was 39 years and average age of individuals who died was 73 years. The youngest case was less than a year old while the oldest case was 100+ years. The youngest to die from COVID was less than 15 years while the oldest to die was 100+ years.
From October 5-11, 55,444 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. This includes at least 14,705 rounds of one dose and 16,803 Oklahomans becoming fully vaccinated. As of October 11, 1,628,309 Oklahomans are fully vaccinated and 3,516,185 vaccine doses have been administered.
For Kay County, 51.8% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is a .4% increase compared to last week. The percentage of fully vaccinated individuals in the county is 43.8%, which is a .4% increase from last week. For fully vaccinated percentages for surrounding counties, Grant is at 44.3%, Garfield at 51.6%, Noble at 64.6%, Pawnee at 50.8% and Osage at 34.3%.
So far for October, the amount of vaccinated people who got COVID, also referred to as “Breakthrough Cases” is 660 . The number of unvaccinated COVID-19 cases to occur so far this month is 6,078. As for hospitalizations, the number of non-vaccinated people hospitalized in the last 30 days due to COVID is 1,596, the number of vaccinated people hospitalized is 203 and 54 partially vaccinated individuals.
The Delta variant has been the dominant form of COVID at Oklahoma’s with 5,685 cases since January. As for other variants since January, there have been 471 of the Alpha variant, 7 of the Beta variant, 35 of the Gamma variant, 2 of the Eta variant, 15 of the Iota variant, 1 of the Kappa variant, 47 of the Lambda variant and 15 of the Mu variant.
