OSDH reports 993 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, three new cases for Kay County

The Oklahoma State Department of Health set a record on Tuesday, July 14, for the most amount of new positive COVID-19 cases in a single day. OSDH is reporting 993 new positive cases, putting Oklahoma’s overall total to 21,738 cases since testing started, and 5,103 cases are active.

Kay County saw three new COVID-19 cases to put the overall total to 129 cases, 8 deaths and 102 recoveries. Kay County has 19 active cases. As for new cases in surrounding counties, Garfield County saw a big jump with 24 new cases, Washington County, with 16, Logan, Osage and Payne counties both have three, Pawnee County with two and Grant County with one.

Four new virus-related deaths were documented for Tuesday, putting Oklahoma’s death toll at 428. None of the deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.

The number of recoveries took a big jump as 820 more individuals in Oklahoma have recovered from COVID-19. The state’s recovery total is now at 16,635.

Health officials report that there have been up to 419,556 total negative specimens. Officials also say there have been 2,116 total hospitalizations, and 546 individuals are currently hospitalized.

According to a graph posted at coronavirus.health.ok.gov, the group with the most COVID-19 cases appears to be the 18-35 age group who has seen 36.48% of the cases. For other groups, 22.09% are in the 36-49 age group, 17.51% in the 50-64 age group, 14.56% in the 64 or older age group, 7.32% in the 5-17 age group and 2.04% in the 0-4 age group
