The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 3,556 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Dec. 18. Oklahoma’s seen 251,760 COVID-19 cases overall as 32,065 cases are active.
A total of 17 virus-related deaths were also documented Thursday, putting Oklahoma’s death toll to 2,161. There are no new virus-related deaths for northern Oklahoma counties.
Kay County saw an increase with 30 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county at 2,635 cases, 27 virus-related deaths and 2,162 recoveries. As for new cases in Kay County communities, there are 20 for Ponca City, six for Newkirk and three each for Tonkawa and Blackwell.

For new COVID-19 cases in local counties, there are 66 for Washington, 55 for Payne, 33 for Osage, 28 for Logan, 19 for Pawnee, 12 for Garfield, seven for Noble and two for Grant.

OSDH is also reporting 3,244 new recoveries on Friday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 217,534. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
As of Friday, health officials report that there have been 2,192,087 negative test results, 14,970 total hospitalizations and 1,733 Oklahomans currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
Also, 2,253 vaccine doses have been administered in Oklahoma, and the state has received 33,150 doses.
