The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,524 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Oct. 9. Oklahoma’s seen an overall total of 97,088 COVID-19 cases as 13,515 cases are active.
Six new virus-related deaths were documented Friday, putting Oklahoma’s death toll at 1,091. One death being a Payne County male in the 36-49 age group. This is the eighth virus-related death for Payne County
Nine additional COVID-19 cases were reported for Kay County on Friday. Kay County’s overall numbers are 734 cases, 15 deaths and 594 recoveries. As for the active cases in the county, there are 99 for Ponca City, 13 for Newkirk, eight for Tonkawa and six each for Blackwell and Kaw City.
As for new COVID-19 cases in local counties, there are 27 for Payne, 21 for Garfield, 17 for Washington, 13 for Osage, four for Logan, three for Pawnee and two for Grant.

OSDH is reporting 1,193 new recoveries for Friday as Oklahoma’s recovery total is at 82,482. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials report that as of Friday, 1,224,883 test results have returned negative, there have been 7,124 total hospitalizations and 749 people are currently hospitalized.
