The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 833 new positive COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, Sept. 8. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 65,053 COVID-19 cases, and 9,930 cases are active.
Kay County saw an increase with nine new COVID-19 cases. This puts the county at 374 cases, 12 deaths and 284 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, 60 are in Ponca City, eight in Blackwell and three each for Newkirk and Tonkawa.
As for new cases in local counties, there are 24 for Payne County, 19 for Garfield County, six for Osage County, three each for Grant and Logan counties, two for Washington County and one for Pawnee County.
Only one additional virus-related death was reported Tuesday. The individual was a Tulsa County male in the 65 or older age group. Oklahoma’s death toll is now at 854.
The number of recoveries outweighed the number for new cases on Tuesday as OSDH is reporting 855 new recoveries statewide. This puts Oklahoma’s recovery total to 54,269. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that as of Friday, Sept. 4, 852,355 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,061 total hospitalizations as 518 people are currently hospitalized.
