The Oklahoma State Department of Health documented 1,794 new COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, August 24.
Oklahoma’s seen 532,388 COVID-19 cases overall as 20,231 cases are active. The new cases 7 day average is 2,246. The provisional CDC death count is 9,004. The state has seen 30,111 hospitalizations.
Locally, Kay County has seen 5,795 COVID-19 cases, 132 deaths and 5,522 recoveries. Therefor, Kay County has 141 active COVID-19 cases. The county information will be updated on Wednesday.
If you’re needing to get tested for COVID-19, the Kay County Health Department has COVID-19 testing available by appointment only at the Ponca City clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Make an appointment by calling 580-762-1641. COVID-19 testing is NOT available at the Blackwell clinic.

As for the COVID-19 vaccine, a total of 3,631,632 doses have been administered. This includes 2,013,892 Oklahomans receiving the first dose and 1,650,107 Oklahomans that are fully vaccinated.
On Monday, the FDA granted full approval to Pfizer’s mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. This approval won’t affect the way OSDH distributes or administers the Pfizer vaccine in Oklahoma.
