OSDH reporting 168 new positive COVID-19 cases on Monday

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 168 new positive COVID-19 cases for Monday, July 20. There have been 25,433 cases in Oklahoma since testing started, and 5,683 of those cases are active.

According to health officials, the low numbers from Sunday, July 19 and Monday, July 20 are due to technical issues and do not effect real-time data.

Kay County did see one new COVID-19 case on Monday as the county has now seen 147 cases, 9 virus-related deaths and 114 recoveries. For active cases, Ponca City has 22, and one for both Newkirk and Tonkawa.

As for new cases in surrounding counties, Washington County saw six new cases, Garfield County has three, Payne County with two and Grant Pawnee counties both have one.

One virus-related death was reported Monday. The individual was a Tulsa County female in the 65 or older age group. Oklahoma’s death toll is now at 452.

The number of recoveries outweighed the number of new cases Monday as 284 more individuals in Oklahoma have recovered from COVID-19, putting the state’s recovery total to 19,750. According to OSDH, A recovered patient is currently not hospitalized or deceased and it has been 14 days after onset/report.

Data also shows that as of Friday, there have been up to 440,904 negative specimens in total, 2,289 total hospitalizations and 604 people currently hospitalized.

According to a graph posted at coronavirus.health.ok.gov, the group with the most COVID-19 cases appears to be the 18-35 age group who has seen 36.50% of the cases. For other groups, 21.85% are in the 36-49 age group, 17.46% in the 50-64 age group, 14.24% in the 65 or older age group, 7.76% in the 5-17 age group and 2.19% in the 0-4 age group.
