The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,039 new positive COVID-19 cases for Thursday, Sept. 17. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 73,318 COVID-19 cases as 10,274 cases are active.
Six additional virus-related deaths were documented on Thursday to put the state’s death toll at 930. One death being a Garfield County female in the 65 or older group. Garfield County also has 20 new positive COVID-19 cases to put their stats to 1,402 cases, 18 deaths and 1,104 recoveries.
Kay County has 13 new COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, putting the county’s stats to 472 cases, 13 deaths and 343 recoveries. As for the active cases in Kay County, 81 are for Ponca City, 22 for Newkirk, five for Blackwell, three for Tonkawa and one for Kaw City. For new cases in other local counties, there are 49 for Payne County, five for Washington County, four for Logan County, three for Osage County, two for Pawnee County and one each for Grant and Noble counties.

For the second day in a row, there were more recoveries than cases reported. OSDH documented 1,088 more recoveries for Thursday in Oklahoma. The statewide recovery total is at 62,114. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials report that as of Thursday, 966,519 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,698 total hospitalizations as 516 people are currently hospitalized.
