One person was hospitalized in critical condition following an accident at 7:01 a.m. Thursday on Silverdale Road, one mile north of River Road, east of Newkirk.
Kelly Bristow called in to the Kay County Sheriff’s Department to report that him and his son were involved in a rollover accident which injured his son. The 911 call was tracked by the Ponca City Communication Center back to one mile north of River Road. Newkirk first responders, Kay County deputies, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers were notified and responded. A passerby stopped by the scene of the accident to help at around 7:13 a.m. A deputy advised that he and the ambulance were two miles away. At 7:17 a.m. Newkirk ambulance arrived.
The injured individuals were then treated. One person was ejected from the vehicle. Bristow, who was the driver, was sent to Alliance Health with minor injuries.
