One Ponca City man is dead following a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 3:21 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Old River Road at Sherwin Ave. in the southeast section of Ponca City in Osage County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that Bennie Ray Henderson, 71, was driving a 2010 Lincoln MKX northbound on Old River Road when he suddenly drifted to the right, departed the roadway, crossed Sherwin Ave. and struck a culvert.
Henderson was later transported to Alliance Health in Ponca City where he was pronounced dead at 4:09 p.m. due to head and trunk internal injuries.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Aaron Crompton No. 851 of the Kay/ Noble detachment of Troop K, Ponca City Ambulance and McCord Volunteer Fire Department.
