One killed in accident in Perry

A fatality collision occurred at approximately 12:43 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 64, ¼ mile east of I-35 in Perry, Ok. in Noble County.

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. What’s known is that there were two vehicles involved. Daniel Ortiz Jr., 20, of Perry, Ok. was driving a 2004 Honda CBR motorcycle. Ortiz Jr. was pronounced dead at scene by medical professionals with whole body injuries. The other vehicle was a 2020 Ford F-150 driven by Garrett O’Clair, 31, of Newalla, Ok. O’Clair was not injured. With O’Clair was Caleb Avery, 30, of Edmond, Ok. and Barrett Bland, 24, of Turkey, Tx. Avery and Bland were not injured.

The condition of Ortiz Jr. was listed in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report as unknown, while O’Clair was apparently in normal condition. Seatbelts were in use by O’Clair’s vehicle, and his airbags did deploy.

The accident was investigated by LT Matthew Ledbetter #138 of the Traffic Homicide Unit. Assisted by Trooper Tyler Langston and Trooper Derek Fry of the Troop K detachment.
