The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 975 new positive COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, July 22. An additional 764 cases were also added due to the backlog issue OSDH had recently. Oklahoma has now seen 28,065 positive COVID-19 cases since testing started, and 6,469 cases are active.
Kay County saw an increase with three new COVID-19 cases, putting the county’s total to 156 cases, nine deaths and 121 recoveries. Ponca City has 21 active cases, Blackwell has three and Tonkawa and Newkirk both have one. To see a complete list of data for Oklahoma communities and their COVID-19 data, click here.
As for new cases in local counties, Payne County has nine, Osage and Logan counties both with five, three for both Garfield and Washington counties, Noble County with four and Pawnee County has two. You can see a complete list for local counties at the bottom of the article.
Data shows that there are 13 new virus-related deaths for Oklahoma on Tuesday, putting the state’s death toll at 474. Two deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.
- A female and two males in McCurtain County, all in the 65 or older age group.
- A female and male in Muskogee County, both in the 65 or older age group.
- Three females and two males in Oklahoma County, all in the 65 or older age group.
- A Seminole County male in the 65 or older age group.
- Two in Tulsa County, one female in the 36-49 age group and one male in the 65 or older age group.
OSDH is reporting 933 new recoveries for Tuesday. The state has now seen a total of 21,596 recoveries. For a recovery to count, that patient must be alive, not in hospitalization and has to be at least 14 days since their case was reported.
Health officials report that as of Tuesday, there has been a total of 478,297 negative specimens, 2,540 total hospitalizations, and 630 people currently hospitalized.
According to a graph posted at coronavirus.health.ok.gov, the group with the most COVID-19 cases appears to be the 18-35 age group who has seen 36.37% of the cases. For other groups, 21.81% are in the 36-49 age group, 17.93% in the 50-64 age group, 14.16% in the 65 or older age group, 7.93% in the 5-17 age group and 2.23% in the 0-4 age group.
