The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,472 new COVID-19 cases for Friday, Oct. 16. Oklahoma’s seen an overall total of 105,308 COVID-19 cases as 14,339 cases are active.
11 additional virus-related deaths were documented for Friday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 1,154. None of the new deaths occurred in northern Oklahoma.
Seven new COVID-19 cases were reported for Kay County who has now seen 782 cases, 15 deaths and 676 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, there are 62 for Ponca City, 13 for Newkirk, 12 for Blackwell and five for Tonkawa.
As for new cases in local counties, there are 39 for Garfield, 35 for Payne, 24 for Logan, 19 for Osage, 12 for Washington, four for Pawnee and two each for Grant and Noble.

OSDH is also reporting 1,035 new recoveries for Friday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 89,815. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials report that as of Friday, there have been 1,312,840 total negative specimen, 7,679 total hospitalizations and 793 patients are currently hospitalized.
