For only the third time in school history, the NOC Mavs basketball team will head to the NJCAA Tournament.
The Mavs (28-4) heard the announcement on Monday at a watch party on the NOC-Tonkawa campus.
NOC will take on Moberly(MO) (26-6) at 10 a.m. Monday in Hutchinson, Ks. The Mavs were on the bubble following a loss to Murray State 79-73 in the semi-finals of the Region 2 tournament last Friday.
NOC was the first team announced for the 24-team field. There are 16 automatic bids for teams that win their region tournaments and eight at-large bids.
The previous two times NOC made the NJCAA tournament were 1998 and 2000.
The Mavs were ranked 7th in the latest NJCAA poll.
