Firefighters spent nearly three hours battling a grass fire Thursday afternoon northeast of Peckham.
The blaze was started by someone cutting metal in the grass and burned nearly 60 acres.
Fire departments hope to address Kay County Commissioners today about approving another burn ban for the county. Newkirk, Peckham, Kildare, River Road, Blackwell and Dale Township fire departments battled Thursday’s blaze.
