Kay Electric Cooperative has received phone calls recently from concerned members stating that they received a phone call from their utility that threatened to disconnect their power if they did not pay immediately.

This is a SCAM! KEC said in a Facebook post that the company does not and will not ever demand immediate payment over the phone. KEC will also never ask you to buy a prepaid debit or credit card to pay your bill over the phone.

If you are ever unsure of the legitimacy of a call from KEC, hang up and call us directly at 800-535-1079 to verify.
