The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 861 new positive COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, Aug. 4. Oklahoma has seen a total of 39,463 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started, and 7,144 cases are active.
Kay County has six new COVID-19 cases, putting the county’s overall total to 223 cases, 10 deaths and 178 recoveries. As for the 35 active cases in the county, Ponca City has 29, Blackwell and Newkirk both have two and Kaw City and Tonkawa both have one.
As for new cases in local counties, Washington County has 14, Garfield County with 10, Osage County has nine, Payne County with six and Pawnee and Noble counties both have four.
OSDH is reporting 15 additional virus-related deaths on Tuesday, none of which occurred in northern Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s death toll is now at 566.
New data also shows that 1,154 individuals have recovered from COVID-19, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 32,319. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Health officials report that as of Tuesday, there have been 617,813 negative test results overall. Officials also report that there have been 3,375 total hospitalizations, and 504 patients are currently hospitalized.
