The Kay County Republican Party will be hosting its County Convention this Saturday, March 2 with Convention registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the convention going from 10 a.m. to noon. The Convention will be in the Evans Fireside Room in the Renfro Event Center at 445 Fairview Avenue in Ponca City. For anyone planning to attend, please enter the building on the East side in the glass doors.
The keynote speaker for the convention will be Dave Bond, vice president for advocacy with the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs located north of the State Capital on Lincoln Blvd in Oklahoma City. Bond was previously the CEO of OCPA IMPACT, OCPA’s 501(c) (4) action partner. Since 2011, Dave has advocated at the Oklahoma Capital on issues of free enterprise, individual initiative and limited government. He has been referred to in the Tulsa World as “a prominent Oklahoma anti-tax lobbyist.” Prior to Bond’s advocacy efforts he worked in Oklahoma elections focused mainly on state legislative campaigns. He was the executive director of the Republican State House Committee, the campaign arm of the Republican caucus of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Dave also worked with the campaign consulting firm A. H. Strategies and with the inaugural campaign of former Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud. In addition, he served in media and communications division of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Dave has lived in Oklahoma for most of his life and graduated from Oklahoma State University. He and his wife Marsha have two sons that live in Yukon.
Also on the program is Ramona Ash, Executive Director for the Living Hope Pregnancy Center in Ponca City. LHPC is a pregnancy help and support center that provides free confidential services and support to women of all ages who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. Ash will be speaking and providing information on the mission for the center and in what ways it’s able to help those who need its services. During the program portion, there will be a call received from Dr. Jim Will who is at a speaking engagement in Mississippi on Saturday. Therefor, he will be calling to share his information about a New Conservative News Network that might be of interest to those at the convention.
The business portion of the convention will include election of Convention Chairman; election of KCRP officers; election of delegates to attend the State Republican Convention on April 6 in Moore; report and adoption of Platform Resolutions. All Republicans are welcome to attend, but only convention delegates will be able to vote on convention business.
