The Kay County Fair Board voted to have the 2020 Kay County Free Fair in Blackwell during the second week of this upcoming September amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but the schedule looks to be limited.

According to the Blackwell Journal-Tribune, despite being cautioned by Emergency Management Director Corey Hanebrink on the health risks and the warning that the City of Blackwell could block the Kay County Free Fair from being held on their grounds, the fair decided on a limited schedule.

Carnival activities would be limited to Thursday-Saturday, while the 4H/FFA activities would take place earlier that week during the evening hours.

The Kay County Free Fair Board is now waiting for the next Blackwell City Council meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, to find out if they can move forward with plans.
