The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 942 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Sept. 11. Oklahoma has now seen a an overall total of 67,642 COVID-19 cases, and 9,371 cases are active.
In addition to the new cases, OSDH is also reporting 12 new virus-related deaths to put Oklahoma’s death toll at 888. One of those deaths being a Kay County man from the Ponca City area in the 50-64 age group. Kay County also has 15 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county’s stats to 401 cases, 13 deaths and 300 recoveries. Out of the active cases in Kay County, 70 are in Ponca City, seven in Blackwell, four each in Newkirk and Tonkawa and one in Kaw City.
Garfield County is another local county with a new virus-related death. The individual was a female in the 65 or older group. Garfield County also has 29 new COVID-19 cases. According to KOCO-5 in Oklahoma City, one death was removed for Thursday’s count from Garfield County. It was determined that the person was a Kansas resident.
As for new cases in other local counties, there are 65 for Payne County, five each for Logan and Noble counties, four for Osage County, three for Washington County and two for Grant County.
New data also shows that 852 new recoveries for Oklahoma, putting the overall recovery total to 57,383. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that as of Friday, 907,109 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,369 total hospitalizations as 509 people are currently hospitalized.
