With the number of COVID-19 cases on the rise across Kansas and Oklahoma, the Cowley County Sheriff’s office has received phone calls inquiring if the border between Oklahoma and Kansas is closed due to travel restrictions.
There are also inquiries about travelers being stopped by Law Enforcement at the state line for the sole reason of gathering information about the reason for travel and destination. The Cowley County Sheriff’s office says that the information is false. Residents from Certain residents from Cowley County travel down to Kay County for work, shopping and other needs. The same can be said for certain Kay County going into Cowley County for work and other needs.
At the time of this article, Kay County has 33 COVID-19 cases reported along with 2 deaths due to the virus, Cowley County has 1 case and Sumner County has 2.
