Kansas man charged with 2nd degree rape in Kay County

A Winfield, Kansas resident is facing a felony count of 2nd degree rape in Kay County.

Andrew Patrick Johnson, 32, received his felony on June 29 when Blackwell police were notified that he tried raping a 15-year-old girl. According to police, Johnson and the teen connect via social media in March, and the teen’s phone had 62 messages and seven phone calls from Johnson. The teen reportedly told police that Johnson had consensual activity with her and would also provide marijuana and cigarettes. Health department records show the teen was pregnant.

On June 29, a warrant for Johnson was issued with a $50,000 bond. Johnson has also faced other crimes in Kay County. In April 2020, Johnson received a misdemeanor domestic abuse charge. That case is set to have a jury trial on Oct. 5.
