Guthrie woman killed in Logan County accident

A fatality collision occurred at 10:25 a.m. Thursday morning along Interstate 35 near the 162 mile marker southbound, approximately 4 miles north of Guthrie in Logan County.

Kristen N. Benham, 24, of Guthrie was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 northbound on I-35 and then departed the roadway left, striking the cable barrier and entering the southbound lanes of I-35. Timothy J. Freeman, 40, of St. Joseph, Mo. was driving a  2018 Kenworth tractor that then struck Benham’s vehicle which then caught on fire.

Benham was pinned inside her vehicle for approximately 4 hours and 25 minutes and was extricated by Guthrie Fire Department using the Hurst tool. Benham was pronounced dead at the scene by Guthrie EMS. Freeman was not injured.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Eric Blades #209 of the Oklahoma/Logan County Detachment of Troop A.
